Nancy purchased Rhavel as a weanling from Rolling Stone Farm on December 15, 1998. He is a Hanoverian by Regazzoni out of SPS Dementia.
As a baby, Rhavel was occasionally high strung and very challenging. However, Nancy felt his potential was great for FEI and he had a high propensity for piaffe.
When Rhavel was four years old, he placed a respectable fourth at the Regional 2 Finals for Training Level and he was third in the First Level Freestyle. That year, Nancy and Rhavel were also invited to participate in a USDF musical freestyle symposium in Raleigh, NC.
When Rhavel was a five year old, Nancy showed him briefly at Second Level, but decided to concentrate his training on the upper levels. In May 2005, Nancy brought Rhavel back into the show ring, and they competed in their first Prix St. Georges. Rhavel placed second with a 59.2%. However, with a little more training and a lot more confidence, the pair won their second Prix St. Georges at Paxton Farm in Cincinnati, June 2005, with a 66%.
In July 2005, Nancy and Rhavel won the Prix St. Georges at Grand Haven Farm, Jefferson, OH, with a 67%. When the 2005 Year-End Awards were in, Rhavel won the FEI Open for the Northern Ohio Dressage Association and won the Alessandria Memorial Trophy sponsored by Lisa Gorretta and Paddock Saddlery.
Nancy is confident that Rhavel's natural ability will continue to make him a star in the ring. Nancy is currently competing Rhavel in Grand Prix. We wish this fantastic pair the best of luck!
