Nancy Lewis-Stanton and her students attended the Region 1 Finals, October 22-25th, 2009, in Lexington, Virginia. We couldn't have asked for better weather, our horses did their best, and undeniably SendonWay had the biggest cheering section of any other farms or competitors. We may have even shocked ourselves at how much team spirit we have when we're all together. We cheered and hugged and supported each other through every ride (we even danced a little), which helped to make it an amazingly fun and special experience for all involved.

Below are some statistics that Bob Lewis compiled after the all of our riders had finished competing:

  1. SendonWay's group had a total of 33 rides, which consisted of 15 Finals classes and 18 open or "practice" tests.
  2. SendonWay's group amassed a total of 18 ribbons, which means we placed in 55% of our overall classes. We received 11 ribbons in our 18 open classes (61%) and 7 ribbons in our 15 Finals rides (47%).
  3. In our Finals rides, our group received two 3rd place ribbons, two 4th place ribbons, one 6th place ribbon and two 8th place ribbons. In our open rides, we had two 1st place ribbons, one 2nd place ribbon, one 3rd place ribbon, four 4th place ribbons, two 5th place ribbons and one 6th place ribbon.
  4. SendonWay's average score in the Finals classes was a 62.35%, with a high score of 69.737%. In the open classes, our average score was 62.75%, with a high score of 69.688%.This is great news, considering the average class size for the 33 rides was 21 riders!

The horses that had the highest average score for the classes they were in (both Finals and open classes) were:
Ghardener: 67.480% for 4 rides
Ghlenlivet: 65.130% for 2 rides
Forio: 64.230% for 4 rides
Magnum: 64.170% for 4 rides
Dreams: 63.670% for 3 rides

Dan was very busy the entire time we were
at the Finals keeping Forio looking beautiful.
Nancy takes her salutes very seriously,
but what is Forio looking at? Is he looking for Dan?

What a touching moment! Two half brothers from Rolling Stone Farm -- Ghardener and Ghambade -- sniff noses.
Robin shows off her extended trot during the victory lap!
Doesn't everyone bring a fog machine to the Regional Finals??
We sure did...and it helped us win the stall decorating contest!
But we did loose Lhunar momentarily in all of the smoke!

Our friends Beth Wycuff (left) and Lauren Wade came to the Finals to offer their support for
our team. But as you can tell...being supportive is VERY tiring!

We took the stall decorating contest VERY seriously!
This fantastic decorating job is the handy work of our very own
Mark Sustin and Greg Stanton.

And of course...we scared the competition away!

Yikes! No wonder we won the stall decorating contest...the judges
were afraid we would have this creepy baby come after them!

Which one of the severed heads above doesn't belong....
Jean Spires is another one of our wonderful friends
that came to the Finals to help the riders and offer
support for the SendonWay Team! As you can see,
we did let her take a break now and then!

Who can forget Nancy's infamous golf cart "BEEP" during Sheila's ride???

"See Beth, if Nancy would have beeped the horn
during that movement in my test, I would
have fallen off."

Sheila is all smiles as she prepares for her
Second Level test!

"What are you guys looking at?"
What form! What grace!
Clark Southworth and Jean Spires danced their socks off
before each of Clark's rides!

Thank you Bernie for the matching SendonWay jackets! We looked great everywhere we went!
No one knows why Jean became so attached to the
creepy Halloween baby!

We were the best cheering section around!!

Shannon gave it her all during her First Level Finals class. We thought you did great girl!
During her warm-up, Sharon peeks over at Shannon
as she completes her First Level Finals class.

These show grounds were really amazing. Where else can you look down at the competition
from atop a huge hill? And boy...don't those SendonWay jackets look nice?!

After Ghardener's dramatic entrance
(remember the spook?!),
Sharon is all smiles for her first halt in
the First Level Finals class.

Is this the point that Sharon felt like her legs were numb?
Yep...that's about as good a Stretchy Circle as
we're gonna get! But it was better than nothing!!!

Sheila is all business as she completes her first halt
in the First Level Finals class. Lhunar, however, would
like to personally say "Hello" to the judge!

Lookie! Rhavel LIKES awards ceremonies!!
We are fairly certain this was Greg's first
awards ceremony!!
Greg offers some last minute tips to Robin Guter
before she enters the show ring.

What a FINE lookin' group we are!!!
Let the CELEBRATING begin!
