Magnum is a 16.1 hand Zangersheide gelding owned and ridden by Shannon Kozakiewicz. Although Shannon lives in Southwestern Pennsylvania, she regularly trailers to SendonWay for lessons with Nancy and she is competes with the SendonWay gang at all of the shows.
Magnum is showing First Level, but as Shannon will jokingly tell you, he is endlessly schooling lengthen trot.
Shannon started riding when she was 12 years old, and showed a barely trained Tennessee Walking Horse for a few years. She switched to hunt seat when she went to Penn State, riding on the Equestrian Team three years. After many long years of waiting, she finally realized her life-long dream of having her own horse when she was 28. She bought Little Jo Starbuck, a 7-year-old sorrel and white paint gelding. Joe and Shannon spent many happy years trail riding and competing in fun shows.
She then took a few dressage-oriented lessons, and Shannon’s love for dressage was born! She realized that while Joe possessed many great qualities, he would never excel at dressage.
Shannon and Magnum have been a team since 2004. He was trained as a hunter, so they both have been learning about dressage together. In 2007, Shannon and Magnum moved to Robin Birk’s Timber Ridge Equestrian Center. Nancy Lewis-Stanton visits Timber Ridge regularly to teach clinics, and Shannon credits her help for propelling her success in dressage. She is currently showing First Level and will begin Second Level in 2010.
Shannon lives in Southwestern Pennsylvania with her husband Rich, Boxer Clooney, and 2-1/2 cats. |
